ACP celebrates U of A pharmacy grads at annual Grad Brunch

It was a big day for graduates from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. First, they walked across the stage at Convocation and proudly accepted their Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree. Then, after posing for a few classic cap and gown photos, the graduates headed over to the TIMMS Centre for the Arts to continue the celebration at ACP’s Grad Brunch.

ACP President Brad Couldwell kicked things off by congratulating the class of 2018 and offering some advice based on his own career as a pharmacist. “Without reservation, serve those around you. That’s the path to happiness and a fulfilling career as a pharmacist,” said Brad, who also graduated from U of A’s pharmacy program.

Later in the program, Brad recognized Nichole Murray with the ACP Gold Medal, which is awarded to the student with the highest academic standing in the graduating class. The final award of the day went to Aliaksandr Savin, who was also the recipient of ACP’s Leadership Development Award in 2017. Brad presented Aliaksandr with the APSA Past President Award, which recognizes leadership, commitment, and dedicated service to students and to the Alberta Pharmacy Students’ Association.

The festivities continued into the evening at the Class of 2018 Grad Banquet, which was coordinated and hosted by the 2018 Grad Committee led by co-chairs Morgan Moffat and Mikhail Surgent.
