ACP Connect is returning – be a part of the conversation!
We are so appreciative of the extraordinary commitment and effort that you are currently making personally and professionally. We hope that you will be able to join ACP president Peter Macek and registrar Greg Eberhart for a virtual discussion about pharmacy practice in the future.
While meeting in person would be best, we just can’t wait! ACP has adopted a new five-year strategic plan, with five big goals; and we want to share them with you. We will share how these goals were developed, why they are important, and some important first steps that we are taking to achieve them.
One of our goals is to achieve “a modern and relevant framework to regulate pharmacy practice.” We would like to hear from you about how the Pharmacy and Drug Act, its regulations, and related standards might be modernized to accommodate better patient experiences through new ways of delivering pharmacy care. Some questions that are on our mind are the following:
- What defines a pharmacy?
- What should be the core requirements of all pharmacies?
- Should infrastructure and operational requirements be flexible, depending on the types of services provided?
- Should drug distribution and clinical services be allowed to be separated more than they currently are?
- What should be the core requirements of all pharmacies?
- Are the current licensing categories relevant to the future? What ideas might better reflect future practices?
- How might ACP better facilitate patients to make informed decisions about accessing pharmacy services that meet their needs?
