As communicated in Benefact No. 1102 from Alberta Blue Cross, Health Canada has permitted the exceptional, temporary importation and sale of pediatric liquid ibuprofen products under the brand name Pedifen® which is manufactured and licensed in Turkey, by Atabay Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals.
This product is suitable for children up to 11 years of age and is permitted for sale and distribution to hospitals and community pharmacies in Alberta only.
The Pedifen® product has some of the same product characteristics as the Canadian-authorized product that are relevant to the end user, including active ingredient, dosage form, indications, dosing instructions, and route of administration.
The product, however, differs in the following ways: brand, flavour, container, inactive ingredients, dosing device, and storage.
