Community pharmacies have less than one month remaining to fully comply with the requirements of CQI+, ACP’s new continuous quality improvement program. Standard 6.1.1(a) of both the Standards of Practice for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies establishes the requirement for pharmacy teams to comply with CQI+.
One of the requirements of CQI+ is that pharmacies must enter into a data-sharing agreement with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) Canada. Establishing a data-sharing agreement allows pharmacy teams to submit anonymous practice incident and close call details to the National Incident Data Repository for Community Pharmacies (NIDR), a key requirement of CQI+.
It is the college’s expectation that pharmacy licensees will have this agreement and all other program requirements in place by February 1, 2026.
For those licensees who have their data-sharing agreement and other requirements in place, thank you! Otherwise, licensees must begin their efforts to comply with all CQI+ requirements immediately to avoid missing the implementation deadline.
As of February 1, 2026, compliance with CQI+ will be one of the areas ACP’s pharmacy practice consultants will be assessing in their routine practice site visits.
