ACP has had reports that some Alberta residents are claiming to be from out of town and using old out-of-province health care cards in the hopes that their medication history with respect to the purchase of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 opioids will not be accessed through Netcare. To prevent patient harm and drug diversion, verify a patient’s identity and review their medication history before providing patient care.
Take two steps to avoid a mistake
To verify a patient’s identity and medication history through Netcare, you don’t necessarily need a health care number. You can type in the patient’s first and last name to see whether they have a medication history in Netcare.
