Student pharmacists are hosting a male pageant to raise money for Movember Canada on November 23, 2013. The past Mr. Pharmacy pageant brought in over $30,000 towards male health issues. Five hundred people attended last year’s Mr. Pharmacy and even more are expected this year.
The Mr. Pharmacy pageant has become one of the hallmark events for student pharmacists at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta. The annual event sees eight pharmacy students compete against each other in various competitions, a talent competition and interviews for the crown of Mr. Pharmacy.
Despite appearances of being just a night of entertainment, the event is also one of the most successful fundraisers hosted by the Alberta Pharmacy Students’ Association (APSA). The event acts as a finale to a month long Movember fundraiser and a way to celebrate the achievements of the students during the past month.
