ACP Connect debuted in Lethbridge and Calgary in November and generated thoughtful discussion about pharmacy practice, now, and in the future. About 90 people attended in Calgary and 30 in Lethbridge.
The events were a chance for registrants to learn more about megatrends that are impacting—or have the potential to impact—pharmacy practice, including artificial intelligence, automation, privacy and security, population/demographics, erosion of trust, and quality versus sustainability. These megatrends are larger than pharmacy; they are societal, cultural, and in some cases global. Successful pharmacy practice depends on learning how to practice within these trends, as compared to resisting them.
Registrar Greg Eberhart reflected, “It’s really encouraging to see the engagement and optimism of our registrants, recognizing the possibility of adversity, but welcoming the challenge to use their creativity to create new opportunities.”
President Fayaz Rajabali welcomed the opportunity to have candid conversations about where pharmacy practice is headed.
“I was glad to hear that registrants felt they had a sincere opportunity to share their front-line experiences and subsequent thoughts,” said Fayaz. “It was particularly encouraging to hear support for the strategic themes that Council is discussing.”
