Adapting through crisis: Meeting Albertans’ needs in a pandemic

ACP’s 2020-21 Annual Report is now available online.

ACP’s 2020-21 Annual Report—Adapting through crisis: Meeting Albertans’ needs in a pandemic is now available online.

It was, of course, a year like no other for Albertans, especially when it came to health care. Many Albertans changed the way they accessed health services—some changes were made by choice while others were made from necessity. Through it all, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians were accessible and on the front line of care in a wide range of practice settings, providing essential services to Albertans safely and effectively.

Our annual report focuses on how pharmacy teams rose to the challenge and adapted the way they practised to meet the needs of their communities.

In our report, you’ll see real-life examples of how pharmacy teams were able to continue providing quality care in the most trying of circumstances.

You’ll learn how pharmacy professionals applied ACP’s Laboratory and Point-of-Care Testing Standards to offer asymptomatic COVID-19 testing during the summer.

You’ll discover how pharmacies developed innovative solutions to handle unprecedented demand for influenza vaccinations during a pandemic.

And you’ll read out how pharmacy teams are still making a difference in a crisis that has been overshadowed by COVID-19: opioid use disorder.

Our annual report also highlights the initiatives ACP implemented to improve the consistency and quality of pharmacy practice in Alberta and the five-year strategic plan approved by Council.
