Effective dates for priority three requirements of compounding standards extended

April 15, 2020
Council has made the accommodation due to increased pressure on pharmacies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The effective dates for complying with priority three (facilities and equipment) requirements for ACP’s standards for compounding, specifically the following:

  • Non-Sterile Preparations, and,
  • (High Risk) Sterile Preparations,

have been extended by Council to July 1, 2021. This date is consistent with the effective date established previously for the Standards for Compounding Sterile Preparations to come into effect.

Council has accommodated this extended date for the standards to come into effect, due to delays that are outside of registrants control arising from the COVID19 pandemic. Pharmacy licensees must continue to be engaged in preparing their pharmacy to comply priority three requirements prior to the new effective date, as an additional extension should not be anticipated.

While the date for priority three requirements has been extended, compliance with priority two requirements are in effect, as originally approved.
