Hannah Kaliel wins ACP Leadership Development Award

July 11, 2018
2018 winner says she’s humbled and grateful.

Hannah Kaliel has been recognized with the ACP Leadership Development Award.

The award supports the development and advancement of professionalism, citizenship, and leadership in pharmacy. It is presented annually to a pharmacy student entering their third or fourth year of study at the University of Alberta.

“I am very humbled and grateful to have received the ACP Leadership Development Award,” said Hannah, who served on the Alberta Pharmacy Students’ Association.

The distinction also comes with up to five-thousand dollars ($5,000) to advance the recipient’s leadership skills through attendance at a pharmacy leadership conference.

“I hope to use this award to attend a conference or leadership symposium focused on the clinical areas of addiction and mental health,” explained Hannah. “These topics have become an area of passion for me over the last year.”

Hannah further explored the subjects by recently attending a week-long course at the Hazelden Betty Ford treatment Centre in May.

“I had the opportunity to develop skills that will enable me to provide better care to Albertans with substance use disorders,” said Hannah.

Hannah will soon be putting her knowledge and passion to work helping Albertans.

“I look forward to graduating in a year’s time and beginning to utilize the leadership and professional skills I’ve gained over the past four years to better the health of my patients.”
