Health Canada looking for volunteers for help with COVID-19

April 15, 2020
Volunteers are needed for case reporting/analysis and contact tracing.

As part of the Government of Canada’s work with provincial and territorial governments to respond to COVID-19, Health Canada is hoping to enlist the support of health professionals to assist its effort to flatten the curve with the pandemic. There is an urgent need to augment capacity at the provincial level for surveillance and monitoring of COVID-19 cases.

Health Canada is building an inventory of volunteers from which provincial and territorial governments can draw upon as needed. Specifically, Health Canada needs assistance with detailed case reporting/analysis and contact tracing to help quickly identify cases and break chains of transmission by isolating and monitoring close contacts.

All volunteers are welcome as Health Canada is looking for a wide range of experiences and expertise.  Most of the volunteer work can be completed remotely from your home and the hours for volunteer work are flexible.

If you are interested in contributing to the COVID-19 response, click on Health Canada’s online application form. Based on your responses in the form, you will be matched with the most appropriate volunteer role.

Reminder: if you are a retired or otherwise non-practising pharmacy professional and would like to return to practice to help with the COVID-19 pandemic effort, please refer to the emergency registration page on the ACP website.
