Alberta Health has revised its treatment guidelines for sexually transmitted infections
The revised Alberta Treatment Guidelines for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in in Adolescents and Adults 2018 have been released by Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services. The new guidelines are available on the Alberta Government website.
In conjunction with provincial STI experts, the guidelines have been adapted from the Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections.
The guidelines provide updated information on the preferred and alternate treatments for many STIs.
Alberta Health Services operates Sexual and Reproductive Health clinics throughout the province. Pharmacists should consider referring individuals identified as being at risk of STIs to access these services.
