Personal protective equipment for pharmacies

July 8, 2020
As of July 1, 2020, pharmacies must acquire PPE directly through their own suppliers.

Please note the following message from the Provincial Operations Centre (POC) for an update on personal protective equipment (PPE) for pharmacies:

As part of the COVID-19 pandemic response, the Government of Alberta, through the Provincial Operations Centre, has been working diligently to source and distribute personal protective equipment (PPE).

With the PPE supply chain continuously improving and with more companies now developing PPE, Alberta pharmacies, wholesalers and distributors have more options to source their own PPE. As such, starting July 1, pharmacies are required to access PPE directly through suppliers.  In the unlikely event that there are pharmacies having difficulty accessing PPE through their distribution channels, these pharmacies may contact the Provincial Operations Centre regarding the availability and costing of PPE.
