Now in its 28th year, the upcoming Alberta Pharmacy Technician Conference is packed with accredited learning opportunities relevant to current practice. It’s also a great opportunity to make connections and help shape the future of the pharmacy technician profession.
Held at the Carriage House Inn in Calgary, the two-day conference kicks off on Friday, September 14 with a full-day workshop followed by an evening of networking and entertainment.
“Friday is our Imagineering Day in which participants will discuss how we can continue to not only grow our profession but highlight the unique contributions pharmacy technicians make to the care of Albertans,” says Teresa Hennessey, President of the Pharmacy Technician Society of Alberta (PTSA). “Pharmacy technicians can expect to leave this interactive workshop with practical ideas they can use to work to full scope and inspire success.”
Saturday will feature a selection of topics that follow the theme of inspiring professional growth through collaboration and quality care. This is the first year in the history of the event where all conference sessions will be presented by pharmacy technicians.
“We’re very excited that this year the conference sessions are 100 per cent pharmacy technician led,” says Teresa.
Last year’s conference sold out, and PTSA is expecting hundreds of pharmacy technicians from across the province and country to join them in Calgary this September.
“It’s more than a learning event. It’s a way for pharmacy technicians to come together to support each other in meeting our professional potential,” says Teresa. “We even have a spot left open for a mystery presentation, where all conference registrants will have the opportunity to decide on what they want to learn about.”
