RxA launches online tool to help provisional pharmacists connect with preceptors

March 8, 2023
This tool is available for provisional pharmacists seeking a preceptor for Structured Practical Training.

The Alberta Pharmacists’ Association (RxA) has launched a new website tool to help provisional pharmacists connect with preceptors to complete the Structured Practical Training (SPT) program.

Completing the SPT program is an important part of demonstrating readiness for independent practice and each intern is responsible for finding an eligible pharmacist who is willing to be their preceptor and able to provide a quality learning experience.

The SPT program provides provisional pharmacists with the opportunity to practise their skills in a supervised practical environment and helps them become proficient, patient-centred, and outcomes-focused pharmacists.

RxA’s new website tool allows provisional pharmacists who are seeking a preceptor for SPT to post their information on RxA’s website. These posts may also be highlighted through RxA’s social media for further exposure.

Potential preceptors can log in to the RxA website and connect with the provisional pharmacists who have posted their information and are looking for a preceptor for the SPT program.

Provisional pharmacists are eligible to receive complimentary membership to RxA, which will grant them access to this tool.
