Single sign-on for Alberta Netcare applications with IAM

February 21, 2012

Currently, health care providers require multiple user credentials to access the information they need to care for their patients. The new Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiative, which will launch April 12, is aimed at reducing the number of IDs (and user frustration!).

IAM will reduce the time it takes to acquire credentials for a new user, and reduce the number of IDs and passwords needed to access Alberta Netcare applications. In the future, IAM will expand to include other clinical applications used within AHS. By using a single set of credentials, it will be faster and easier for health care providers to access the information they need.

Any health care provider that acts as Alberta Netcare Requester or Access Administrator will be impacted by this launch, as it will change the way they manage Alberta Netcare user accounts at their clinic or facility.

Additional information about IAM is available on the Alberta Netcare Portal login pages, and for AHS employees on INsite: http://insite.albertahealthservices.ca/4902.asp. You can also contact the Alberta Netcare Deployment team by phone: 1-866-756-2647 or by email: health.ehrdeployment@gov.ab.ca.

Attention All Alberta Netcare Portal users:

Complete your IAM Data Collection Questionnaire before April 4 to enter a draw for an Apple iPad 2.

The questionnaire appears to users every time they login to Alberta Netcare Portal, until is it complete and validated. This information is essential to the successful launch of the Identity and Access Management application on April 12, AND serves as your ballot to win an Apple iPad 2®.

Users that fail to complete their questionnaire may have difficulties logging in to Alberta Netcare after April 12, so it is very important that users complete the questionnaire as soon as they can.
