Stan Dyjur re-elected to three-year term on ACP Council

April 17, 2019

ACP Council president Stan Dyjur has been re-elected to a second three-year term on Council by voters in central Alberta. Based in Red Deer, Stan will continue as the pharmacist representative for District 4 after winning the election that attracted 25 per cent of eligible voters.

“It’s been a huge privilege to serve on Council,” said Stan. “It’s the biggest honour I’ve had in my career to this point, especially serving as president. It means a lot to be able to continue the journey for another three years. I’m proud of what Council has done since I’ve been here. We’re engaged in excellent discussions to identify the issues and trends facing regulated members and the college both in the present and looking ahead to the next seven or eight years. I’m really excited about where we’re headed as Council and a college in providing consistent, quality, accessible care to Albertans.”

Stan, who will complete his term as president in June, feels good about the current makeup of Council, noting that the new and experienced members bring a good balance of perspectives to the discussions.

“We’ve got a really good mix,” added Stan. “We have some experience and some fresh perspectives. I can’t believe I’m one of the more senior people on Council at this time, but I’m looking forward to contributing to our discussions and mentoring newer members of Council.”

Stan says it will be important to build a solid relationship with whoever is named Alberta’s next Minister of Health.

“Relationships are everything,” said Stan. “I’m looking forward to continue building the relationships important to the work of the college.”
