Yesterday, the province announced that the Alberta Health Act will come into force on January 1, 2014. The Act will establish a Health Charter, which sets out the government’s commitment to the principles of the Canada Health Act. A Health Advocate’s office, which will help Albertans navigate the health system, will also be established to house the new Health Advocate, along with the advocates for seniors and mental health patients.
