To accommodate the regulation of pharmacy technicians which came into effect on July 1, 2011, ACP introduced the Standards of Practice for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies.

NOTE: Pharmacy technician when used in these standards refers to individuals who are regulated by ACP. That is, they are registered on the pharmacy technician register, the provisional pharmacy technician register or the courtesy technician register.
These standards were developed in consultation with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other stakeholders. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians were required to begin practising under these standards on July 1, 2011.
