It’s the most prestigious honour the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) can bestow upon an individual who is or has been a regulated member of the college: the Honorary Life Membership. Each year, the college accepts nominations for the award, which is given to a current or former regulated member who has, in the opinion of Council, rendered distinguished service to the practice of pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians.
During the last four years, Honorary Life Memberships have been awarded to
- 2025 – Greg Eberhart (former ACP registrar),
- 2024 – Rick Hackman (former ACP Council president and community pharmacist),
- 2022 – Sheila Kelcher (former educator and community pharmacist), and
- 2022 – Rosemary Bacovsky (former president of Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and council member with the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association).
Nominations are also being accepted for the Honorary Membership Award, which is issued to individuals who have never been regulated members of the college and have, in the opinion of Council, rendered distinguished service to the practice of pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians.
During the last five years, Honorary Memberships have been awarded to
- 2024 – Patricia Matusko (former public member of ACP Council),
- 2024 – Bill Shores (former ACP legal counsel),
- 2022 – Lynn Paulitsch (former ACP operations and finance director), and
- 2022 – Joan Pitfield (former public member of ACP Council).
The 2026 Honorary Life Membership and Honorary Membership awards will be presented at the college’s Celebration of Leadership in June. The deadline to submit nominations is March 30, 2026.
