Seasonal immunization information webpage update

October 15, 2024
New information is available for pharmacy teams as the 2024-25 immunization season kicks off.

The 2024-25 Alberta Fall Immunization Program for the general public begins today (October 15, 2024). To help pharmacy teams throughout the season, ACP has compiled information from Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Blue Cross, and Health Canada on our Seasonal immunization information webpage. The page has been renamed as the Alberta Fall Immunization Program includes influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunizations.

On this webpage, you will find links to resources you need to provide safe and effective immunizations for Albertans including the following:

  • Alberta’s Immunization Policy,
  • information about this season’s influenza, COVID-19, and RSV vaccines,
  • cold chain storage and handling,
  • adverse events reporting,
  • directions for use of influenza immunization vaccine record,
  • general public program launch information, and
  • COVID 19 considerations (including co-administration of COVID and influenza vaccines).

During the 2023-24 season, more than 1.13 million Albertans were immunized with an overall influenza immunization rate of 25 per cent. Pharmacists administered 78 per cent of these immunizations, immunizing approximately 878,695 Albertans.
