New dosing guidance is in effect for third doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and additional groups are now eligible for a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Please note the following message from Alberta Health:
When administering a dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (SpikeVax) as a third dose to an eligible individual, the following dosage guidance is to be used:
- individuals 65 years of age or older or in long-term care setting or another high-risk group shall receive
- full dose of 0.5mls (100mcg), and
- individuals under 65 years of age and at low risk shall receive
- half-dose of 0.25mls (50mcg).
Effective Monday November 8, 2021, additional groups became eligible for a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least six months after the date of administration of their second dose.
