If you were previously registered as a clinical pharmacist in Alberta, you may be eligible for reinstatement. An applicant for reinstatement must provide evidence to the registrar of qualifications for registration. Reinstatement requirements differ depending on your current situation and how long you’ve been inactive in Alberta. Standard reinstatement requirements are outlined below; additional requirements may be prescribed by the registrar upon consideration of your application for reinstatement.
To complete the Jurisprudence Learning Module, the Ethics and Jurisprudence Exam, and the SPT program, you must first apply for reinstatement and then complete the requirements as a provisional registrant.
If you have been inactive in Alberta for less than three years and you are registered in another province or territory, there are typically no additional reinstatement requirements. Requirements may apply based on your registration history. We do recommend that you complete the learning activities prescribed by the Competence Committee in the Continuing Competence Program (prescribed learning activities) for each year you were inactive. The prescribed learning activities are available in the Reinstatement module in Academy.

If you have been inactive for longer than six years in Alberta and not practising in another Canadian province or territory, please contact ACP to determine your reinstatement requirements. We recommend that you contact ACP prior to submitting a reinstatement application as your file must be reviewed by the registrar. Once the review is complete, the registrar will prescribe requirements which must be met to reinstate as a clinical pharmacist in Alberta. Those requirements may include

If you are initially placed on the provisional register to complete the Ethics and Jurisprudence Exam or the SPT program, once the reinstatement requirements are completed, you will need to apply to the clinical pharmacist register. You must not practise until you receive notification that your practice permit is issued.
Note, once you are on the clinical pharmacist, you will need to submit a separate application to obtain authorization to administer drugs by injection.
