You still have time to submit nominations for ACP’s Honorary Life Membership Award! The award is the most prestigious honour ACP can bestow upon an individual who is or has been a regulated member of the college. The award is given to a current or former regulated member who, in the opinion of Council, rendered distinguished service to the practice of pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians.
Here are a few thoughts from previous winners:
- “It’s totally humbling to have colleagues come forward and put your name forth for such a prestigious honour, knowing many of those who have received it before and their contributions.” – Steve Long, 2019 recipient
- “It was a gobsmacking moment for me, it really was. I was never expecting it. A lot of my career has been in hospital pharmacy, so when I learned that the Council of the college had bestowed this honour on me, it was just an overwhelming honour and surprise.” – Linda Poloway, 2019 recipient
- “Skip Gibson gave a glowing testimonial on my behalf which was almost too flattering. In my response to it, I got quite emotional and had to quit talking. There were a few more people I wanted to thank, but I got caught up in emotions.” – George Doherty, 2018 recipient
- “That was a complete shock to me, because while I have a lot of pride in what I do here (Castor Pharmacy Museum), I wonder if people recognize the effort that I put into it. I was overwhelmed.” – Mike Bain, 2017 recipient
The 2022 Honorary Life Membership Award(s) will be presented at the college’s Celebration of Leadership in Calgary on June 8, 2022.
