The 2023-24 Alberta Influenza Immunization Program for the general public begins on October 16, 2023. To help pharmacy teams prepare for the season, ACP has compiled information from Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Blue Cross, and Health Canada on our Seasonal influenza information webpage. There you will find links to all the resources you need to provide safe and effective immunizations for Albertans including the following:
- Alberta’s Immunization Policy,
- information about this season’s influenza vaccines,
- cold chain storage and handling,
- adverse events reporting,
- directions for use of influenza immunization vaccine record,
- general public program launch information,
- COVID 19 considerations (including co-administration of COVID and influenza vaccines), and
- much more.
During the 2022-23 season, more than 1.26 million Albertans were immunized from influenza, with nearly 970,000 receiving their vaccine from a pharmacist. Overall, 28 per cent of Albertans were immunized during the 2022-23 season.
