Serving on Council is a tremendous opportunity to serve your community and your profession.

Are you a leader who is committed to safe, effective, and responsible pharmacy practice?

Are you looking for a new way to contribute to the pharmacy professions?

Have you ever thought about putting your name forward to run for Council?

Here’s what two of your fellow pharmacy professionals had to say about their experiences on Council:

“As a healthcare professional, I consider it a privilege to have played a role in the mandate and social contract of public protection. My participation on the Council not only facilitated my growth and development as a leader but also enriched my knowledge and skills in governing pharmacy practice in Alberta. It’s worth noting that deciding to run for the Council should be a thoughtful one as it requires a considerable amount of learning and upskilling in governance. My time on the Council was meaningful as we made collective decisions and contributions that impacted the community.”– Dana Lyons, pharmacy technician, ACP Council member (2017-23), ACP Council President (2020-21)

“The experience of being a Council member has allowed me to truly support and understand the regulatory and governance structures of ACP and make meaningful contributions to key strategies to support pharmacy practice in Alberta. Being a member of Council has challenged me to think differently about pharmacy practice—particularly how our practice impacts the health of Albertans. It has been an amazing opportunity to serve the profession and grow as a leader.” – Peter Macek, pharmacist, ACP Council member (2018-present), ACP Council President (2021-22)

Council elections will be held in June 2024 for pharmacists in District 1 (northern Alberta) and District 2 (southern Alberta), and for pharmacy technicians in District A (northern Alberta).
