Details of what has changed are now available.

After consultation with various stakeholders, the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) Medication protocol has been updated and will be effective June 3, 2024.

The updated protocol, dated March 20, 2024 (v.2), along with a summary of the key changes to the protocol are now available in the password-protected area of the ACP website or by contacting the MAID Care Coordination Team.

The Alberta Blue Cross Special Authorization form is also being updated to reflect these changes.

AHS reminds pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who dispense a substance for MAID, that they must complete and submit the Pharmacist Substance Dispensing Record within 30 days from the day of dispensing the substance.

Once again, the new MAID protocol takes effect June 3, 2024. If you have any questions, please email the MAID Care Coordination Team at maid.careteam@ahs.ca.
