As previously communicated, Primary and Preventative Health Services (PPHS) is discontinuing the upload of provincially funded immunization records to Alberta Netcare via Alberta Blue Cross claims submission, effective July 1, 2026. Pharmacies must complete the transition to a real-time integration (RTI) solution to continue reporting immunization data in order to participate in the 2026–27 seasonal immunization program.
While this change is being led by PPHS, note that the Standards for the Operation of Licensed Pharmacies also require the timely and secure transmission of immunization records to Netcare through the use of RTI by July 1, 2026.
PPHS has also indicated that they have extended a limited transition period into late summer for pharmacies that are currently in the process of completing RTI onboarding and are awaiting activation through their software vendor and eHealth Services.
Alberta Blue Cross has released a Benefact outlining the change, timelines, and expectations. Pharmacy teams that have not yet completed onboarding should contact their vendors and eHealth Services as soon as possible.
