2026-27 immunization program details released

July 14, 2026
Community pharmacies will be able to administer publicly funded influenza and COVID-19 vaccines.

Alberta Blue Cross (ABC) has shared details of the upcoming provincially funded 2026-27 fall universal influenza immunization program for the general public. The program will begin on October 19, 2026. Community pharmacies are permitted to administer provincially funded influenza vaccines to individuals five years of age and older.

In addition, Primary and Preventative Health Services is seeking to broaden timely access to vaccines. This fall, community pharmacies will once again be able to order and administer provincially funded COVID-19 vaccines to eligible Albertans 12 years and older.

More details on eligibility, vaccine allocations, and product information for a targeted COVID-19 program will be shared in an upcoming ABC Benefact.

For community pharmacies participating in the Alberta Outreach Immunization Program, on-site immunization of residents and staff at congregate care facilities can begin as soon as your pharmacy obtains influenza and COVID-19 vaccine (depending on when supply is received in the province).
