The Diagnostic Tool and Learning Modules (DTLM) of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) is an interactive online learning program for those who wish to increase their understanding of the knowledge and skills required for pharmacy practice in Canada. It’s also intended for those preparing to meet the registration requirements of the pharmacy regulatory authorities such as ACP.
The DTLM program covers three areas of knowledge: the Canadian healthcare system, cultural diversity and awareness, and professional communication. This unique online resource allows participants to study anytime, from anywhere, and at their own pace.
There are no prerequisites to enrol in the DTLM program. The learning modules offer pertinent information to
- internationally educated pharmacy professionals preparing for registration in Canada;
- pharmacy professionals seeking to refresh their knowledge of aspects of their practice, especially communications skills, as well as the impact of culture and diversity on the profession; and
- students in Canada who wish to round out their knowledge of Canadian practice.
Participants will learn to
- define clearly what “professionalism” entails within the Canadian healthcare context and how pharmacy professionals in Canada, both as individuals and as a profession, are expected to meet the expectations of their patients, colleagues, regulators, and the public at large;
- develop and strengthen awareness of the impact of Canada’s culturally rich and diverse society on various aspects of pharmacy practice; and
- communicate using effective and inclusive language to facilitate clear, safe, culturally sensitive, and ethical interactions with patients, fellow professionals, and other interested parties.
The learning content includes short written explanations, videos, interactive activities, and simulations to aid understanding and absorption of the topic under consideration. Information is presented in easy-to-follow, bite-sized lessons allowing you to undertake your learning in a manageable and effective manner.
The cost to register is $105 plus tax. For further information, contact gatewayinfo@napra.ca.
