What does innovation look like in a pharmacy?
There is no one answer to that question—across the province, there are countless examples of pharmacy teams finding creative solutions to complex problems and adopting new practices to better support patients.
These innovators advance person-centred care by delivering safer, more effective, and more responsive care to improve health outcomes and patient experiences.
In this issue of Full Scale, we showcase pharmacy teams that set an example for delivering innovative, person-centred care. You will read about integrative health teams, creative collaboration, compassion-driven care, and more in the following articles:
- Building trust, changing lives: Meet two pharmacists in Edmonton and Red Deer who are helping vulnerable Albertans access the care and stability they deserve through outreach, empathy, and collaboration.
- Leading care beyond the dispensary: How pharmacist-led clinics are practising to full scope and strengthening community healthcare access in Lloydminster and Cochrane.
- Filling the gaps: What it looks like when point-of-care testing is done right.
- The Walk Club: How a cancer care pharmacy team supports patients with a weekly walk club where pharmacy team members meet up with patients to take a stroll, answer questions, and connect.
- Aging well at home: Meet the team behind a seniors’ program in Edmonton where clients are empowered with comprehensive healthcare services and social programming to help them live healthy and independent lives.
- Real time means real talk: How real-time integration can support the effectiveness and efficiency of a pharmacy team in everything from improving patient care to supporting collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
As you read through this issue, we encourage you to reflect on how your own pharmacy team is already finding opportunities to collaborate, learn, and evolve and to consider additional ways in which you might be able to apply innovative approaches to providing person-centred care.
