Pharmacists: Your 2025-26 practice permit renewal period starts today!

April 1, 2025
Make sure to note changes in the requirements this year.

Pharmacists, it’s time to submit your application for your 2025-26 practice permit in myACP. This year, there are a few requirements to prepare for before you are eligible to renew.

Add your professional liability insurance records

Pharmacists are reminded that it is now required to add and maintain your professional liability insurance (PLI) records in myACP. This process ensures all regulated members fulfill their professional obligation of maintaining PLI as you are now required to keep records of PLI up to date in myACP. It also enables PLI renewal reminders to help regulated members remember to renew their PLI regularly. You must ensure your myACP records include active and current PLI information before you start your practice permit renewal application.

For step-by-step instructions to help you access and update your PLI records in myACP, refer to the Updating your professional liability insurance help guide.

Complete the CIHI survey

Each year when you renew your practice permit, you provide demographic data that is shared with the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).

This year, the process for collecting demographic information has been revised. Before you renew your practice permit, you will need to go to your profile in myACP, complete the CIHI statistics survey, and then proceed with your practice permit renewal application.

For step-by-step instructions to help you through this process, refer to the Completing the CIHI survey help guide.

Make sure your information is up to date and accurate

Before you renew your practice permit, you will need to ensure that your personal and pharmacy employment information is accurate. Log in to myACP and select the “My profile” icon. From there, you can check and update your personal information (e.g., email address, mailing address, phone number) and employment information.

Complete your continuing competence requirements

The topic for this year’s prescribed learning activity for pharmacists is the Standards of Practice for Virtual Care. ACP recognizes virtual care is an emerging way for pharmacy professionals to deliver care and allow patients increased access and choice in how and from whom they receive professional services.

You must ensure your Continuing Competence Program (CCP) requirements are met in the CCP Portal before renewing your practice permit. As a reminder, ensure you submit your learning and implementation records under the 2024-2025 year. Review the Continuing Competence Program manual for pharmacists and the Competence FAQs for more information.
