
ACP has received numerous reports from Alberta Health Services (AHS) that pharmacies are missing authorized refills on new prescriptions transmitted via e-fax from Connect Care. The issue has been especially apparent with prescriptions for insulin, as seen in the example below.

If a patient returns to the pharmacy for a refill on a prescription that was received via Connect Care and there are no refills on file in the pharmacy system, consider reviewing the original prescription to ensure that any authorized refills were included in the patient’s record.
