Pharmacist Councillor 2

Dear Fellow Regulated Member,

Voting closes May 7 — one week from today.

I am Ahmed Abdelfattah. I practiced where you practice — in every setting, every community, every role. I know what workable regulation looks like from the inside.

If elected, I will carry your reality into every ACP governance decision — on scope, on competence, on rural access, on safety culture, and on the growing role of AI in pharmacy practice.

Haven’t voted yet? Visit www.fattah.info to read my full platform — then log in to myACP and cast your ballot. It takes 2 minutes and it matters more than you think.

Don’t let this election pass without your voice.

Dear Colleagues,

Pharmacy practice continues to evolve, and effective leadership requires balancing innovation with strong regulatory oversight. My goal as a Councillor is to support decisions that are evidence-informed, practical, and aligned with ACP’s mission and strategic priorities.

A key focus of my leadership will be supporting pharmacists through clearer, more efficient processes that reduce unnecessary complexity. By addressing areas where administrative requirements can be streamlined without compromising standards, we can help ensure pharmacists have more time to focus on patient-centered care.

I will also advocate for continuing education that is relevant to real-world practice, including structured training in areas such as minor ailments prescribing, assessment skills, and expanded services. This supports both competence and confidence in delivering care safely.

Engagement with registrants is essential. I support creating consistent opportunities for feedback, allowing insights from frontline practice to inform Council decisions and improve regulatory processes.

By aligning efficiency, clarity, and strong professional standards, I am committed to contributing to a regulatory framework that supports both public safety and the sustainability of pharmacy practice.

Tamer Hossameldin

Bridging Policy & Practice

I’ve worked as a Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Lead, and Regional Manager across Western Canada, which means I’ve seen regulatory decisions from both sides, how they’re designed and how they actually land in practice. That operational experience is what I’d bring to Council.

My focus would be on making sure new standards are implementable across diverse settings, from community to specialty environments. Not every practice context looks the same, and regulations that work in one setting can create real friction in another. I’ve spent years working through that translation, and I think that perspective is useful at the governance level.

I’d also contribute to Council’s oversight work with experience managing multi-site teams and resources, with a practical understanding of where accountability gaps tend to appear.

ACP’s mandate is public protection, and I believe that’s best supported when the people helping set standards have worked under them. I’d welcome the opportunity to bring that to the Council table.

I’m asking for your vote.

Hello again and thank you for considering me, Lisa Lix, for Pharmacist Councillor 2. If elected, here is what you can expect from me:

  • Council representation by a staff pharmacist (instead of another owner/manager) who has 20 years of experience in the pharmacy industry in urban, rural, community, hospital, and multiple provinces.
  • Holding the College accountable to its mandate to protect the public through responsible governance which prioritizes the quality of practicing pharmacy professionals and licensed pharmacies over quantity thereby ensuring consistent, high quality patient care anywhere.
  • Stronger stance against predatory practices which tarnish our integrity as a profession and foster competition pressures all the while  eliciting burnout in pharmacy teams that choose to practice ethically.
  • Thoughtful navigation of government directives such as Bill 13 which will influence the way that pharmacy team members practice and how the College regulates that practice.
  • Ensuring the College remains at the forefront of dialogues with key stakeholders including government, employers, and insurance providers to ensure that we are proactively engaging in health policy conversations and taking control of the narrative on behalf of pharmacy teams and ultimately our patients.

Contact me at  lisa.lynn.lix@gmail.com – thank you for your support!

I am committed to bringing a strong, informed voice to Council if elected as Pharmacist Councillor 2, grounded in extensive pharmacy practice experience. I have worked across hospital, community, and residential living pharmacy settings, giving me a broad understanding of practice environments in Alberta, as well as having work experience in other provinces. I am interested in shaping pharmacy practice more fully in the continuing care environment.

I have developed effective and ethical operations in other organizations by establishing governance structures that helped them meet regulatory requirements. As both a dispensing and consulting pharmacist and through my years in operations, I have mentored many colleagues throughout their professional development.

I believe this diverse experience and knowledge base will be valuable in shaping future regulations and strategic direction for Alberta College of Pharmacy members, while protecting the public interest.

Please feel free to reach out to me at pmcleod@nbly.ca if you have questions or would like to connect. Your voice matters—log in to myACP, make your voice heard, and vote for Patricia McLeod before May 7. Together, we can help shape the future of pharmacy in Alberta.

Please reach out if you need anything else from me.  Thanks,

Pat McLeod

Fellow Friends,

As I write my last message to you from ACP and reflect on the election campaign, I just want to say: Thank you!

Thank you for all the love, support and trust!

Thank you for all the meaningful conversations and shared experiences!

Thank you for all the friendships and relationships I have built!

Alberta is a great province to practice Pharmacy, and I am proud doing that!

But let’s be honest – the pressure you feel every day, regardless of community, hospital, or LTC, is REAL. It’s impacting how we care for patients, support our teams, and sustain our profession.

Bottom line: Protecting the public starts with supporting pharmacy professionals

and that’s the biggest opportunity we have. The system must work with us, not against us.

Having a voice on ACP council who understands and brings frontline perspective and challenges is important. Choose the candidate you believe best represents that voice – but most importantly, please vote!

If the system isn’t working for us, it’s time to step up and help change it.

FINAL 2 of 4 points where I wish to contribute to leading the future of Alberta pharmacy on ACP Council:

-Expanding pharmacy technician scope.
Other provinces already have technicians trained to administer injections, why not Alberta? This could be a major benefit to busy teams come flu season and allow more time for pharmacists to complete clinical activities.

-Keeping Rural pharmacy teams in mind.
Regulation has to make sense for all pharmacy teams in Alberta. From the double-digit teams in Calgary to the single pharmacist in Bassano, regulation must be sensible and realistic for all pharmacies to implement. Small rural teams sometimes feel left out of the conversations that take place in Edmonton, and I want to ensure they have a voice at the table.

I work in community. I work in a hospital. I see both sides of clinical practice. I understand the struggles pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are facing each and every day across our province be it behind the counter or on the ward.

Consider voting for me in this ACP Council election, and let’s get to work on strengthening pharmacy leadership province-wide and keep Albertan’s healthy through excellence in pharmacy practice!

Thank you.

Ethan

Pharmacist Councillor 2

Dear Fellow Regulated Member,

My name is Ahmed Abdelfattah. I practiced where you practice — chains, independent walk-in clinics, hospital, public health, and relief across 10+ Alberta communities. I know your counter because I have stood behind it.

Alberta pharmacy is evolving fast. Our scope is expanding. AI is reshaping how we practice. Our patients are counting on us. And the regulatory framework needs to keep pace.

If elected, I will bring to Council:

  • Clinical frameworks that make expanded scope safe for everyone
  • A competence program built around how you actually work
  • Regulation that works for every Alberta community — rural lens on every ACP decision
  • A safety culture where reporting a near miss means being thanked
  • Clear regulatory guidance on AI in pharmacy practice — before it outpaces our standards

Before you vote — read my full platform at www.fattah.info. Then cast your ballot on myACP. It takes 2 minutes.

Your vote shapes this profession. Use it.

Dear Colleagues,

It is an honour to stand as a candidate for Pharmacist Councillor. With over 25 years of experience and 12 years registered with ACP, I remain committed to advancing our profession in a way that supports both public protection and frontline practice.

My leadership approach focuses on strengthening the connection between regulatory expectations and day-to-day pharmacy operations. Clear, practical, and well-communicated standards are essential to ensuring safe and consistent patient care.

I will advocate for improving the efficiency of regulatory processes by reducing unnecessary administrative burden where possible, and by promoting clearer guidance and streamlined requirements. This will help pharmacists dedicate more time to direct patient care while continuing to meet high professional and ethical standards.

I am also committed to enhancing communication between ACP and registrants, ensuring that feedback from practice informs decision-making. Improving the inspection experience through clarity, consistency, and constructive engagement remains a priority.

By supporting practical, transparent, and efficient approaches, I aim to contribute to a regulatory environment that enables pharmacists to focus on what matters most, delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

Safe Adoption of Innovation

Pharmacy practice is shifting quickly – virtual care, AI-assisted tools, and expanded clinical services are all moving faster than regulatory frameworks were built to handle. I’ve worked inside that reality building and implementing clinical programs across multiple provinces, and I’ve seen where emerging tools genuinely improve care and where they introduce risk that needs to be addressed before it scales.

As the 2026 Business Innovation Award recipient, my approach to innovation has always been about safe, evidence-supported adoption , not adoption for its own sake.

If elected to Council, I’d focus on anticipating practice changes before they outpace our standards, improving how ACP engages with registrants so that guidance is practical and timely, and drawing on my multi-province clinical experience to support the development of prescribing and injection service standards.

I think the College’s strength as a regulator comes from staying current with how practice is actually evolving. I’d work to support that.

I’m asking for your vote.

My name is Lisa Lix and I am a hospital pharmacist based in High River with over 20 years of experience in both community and hospital practice as well as urban and rural settings. I wish to be a Councillor because I believe that self-regulation is our privilege and I want to be part of the process of shaping the College’s governance policies and ensuring that pharmacy teams licensed in Alberta are optimized to provide consistent, quality care to our patients. With the strains on the health care system present today, emerging AI tools, predatory practices from within our profession, and new government directives, a strong council is required more than ever. The council needs to represent not only pharmacy owners and managers, but frontline staff pharmacists like myself who are constantly torn between ensuring that the care that we provide is simultaneously thorough and efficient while navigating so many internal and external pressures. If elected, it is my goal to ensure that patient safety is promoted by a regulatory environment that actually supports pharmacists in the prevention and management of burnout.

Please take the time to learn about all of the candidates

Here area 2 of 4 points where I wish to contribute to leading the future of Alberta pharmacy on ACP Council:

  • Artificial intelligence is rapidly shaping the future of healthcare. Physicians are using Heidi and AHS‑Jenkins, and you might be using ChatGPT or Copilot in your personal life (and probably sometimes at work). Have you heard of Open Evidence? These tools are impressive, but with great power comes great responsibility. ACP needs to gear up quickly to find a sufficient middle ground for the regulation of AI use by pharmacy professionals to protect the public (as per their mandate) but should also protect you if used appropriately.
  • ACP cannot be present in every pharmacy across the province to address every operational or clinical challenge (and frankly, neither can RxA). What ACP can do is prioritize the development of strong pharmacy leadership with continuing education support. Our profession needs more pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who feel confident stepping into leadership roles, collaborating effectively, and guiding their teams through site‑level challenges. Working on the frontlines in both hospital and community, I see firsthand how real burnout is.

What improves burnout? Strong, effective leadership that can create supportive environments, set realistic expectations, and foster psychological safety.

To all my fellow colleagues,

My name is Nina, and I’m excited to be running again for Councilor 7. With 18 years of experience in both community (including specialty) and institutional (including provincial pharmacy practice) across rural and urban settings, I’ve had the chance to see just how diverse and impactful our profession really is.

I believe strong leadership is grounded in collaboration. Pharmacy practice looks different for all of us and every perspective matters. I want to help make sure all voices are heard and reflected in the decisions that shape our profession.

My focus is to support inclusive representation, strengthen our role as pharmacy in healthcare, and advance safe, high-quality care by practicing to full scope and fostering a more integrated profession.

Having contributed to the development of our new 3-year strategic plan, I am fully committed to help achieve its key focus areas: quality care, modern regulation, and supporting our pharmacy professionals within an evolving healthcare system.

I will continue to lead with honesty, transparency, and accountability. Above all, I am dedicated to serving the public interest and ensuring the safety of our Albertans.

Thanks so much for your support!

As a pharmacy technician with nine years of experience across Alberta Health Services, I have supported patient care in diverse, complex settings. These experiences reinforce my commitment to ACP’s mission to protect and serve the health and safety of Albertans.

Pharmacy technicians contribute essential operational insight and a strong understanding of medication-use systems. I will advocate for this perspective while working collaboratively with all pharmacy professionals to strengthen team-based care.

If elected, I will bring a practical, frontline informed perspective to Council, supporting policies that are transparent, implementable, and aligned with real-world practice. My focus is to advance patient safety and quality practice in line with ACP’s values. I will lead with integrity, accountability, collaboration, and respect while engaging openly with diverse perspectives and ensuring decisions reflect the public interest.

I am committed to thoughtful, ethical leadership that will support informed decision-making while providing safe and optimal care for all Albertans. Thank you for your time and consideration of my candidacy.
